The ACF Fun Run - Community Hour's Zahra goes for gold

ACF ACF

On your marks get set go! I signed up, pinned my number to my Streetlife Radio shirt and made my way outside.

We had a young Muslim girl opening up the race looking so confident and happy cutting the ribbon and a lady dressed as a clown at the side with the buzzer as we took off for charity a 5km Fun Run / Walk for the ACF (Active Change Foundation).

At the ready with two bottles of water, running shoes that had not seen the light of day for a year and an asthma pump we made our way towards Markhouse Road via the Bingo Hall down to Walthamstow Central wanting to stop and take a breath.

I turned the corner up to Hoe Street, with lots of Muslim women, children, men and plenty other people were trying their hardest not to give up and jump on the ACF bus that was monitoring our every move.

Down the street to Bakers Arms, and turning onto Lea Bridge Road I could see the ACF hub and the finishing line. In front of me I saw a sea of people jogging, running and walking all trying to get to the finish line before me.

Then out of no-where a young boy rides up on his bike and says “If you go faster you can be in the top 10 to complete the race. So with all my might and the last drop of water I sped to the finish line. I’m 10th whoop!

My heart was racing,I have finished.... then upstairs I went to explore the Asian Bazaar and to find out if I had won the Blackberry ...Unfortunately not but I had an amazing time.  Thank you Active Change Foundation.

"Waltham Forest Council have assured us that there is firm cimmotment at senior level..."Herts County Council say the same about Croxley Rail Link. And a little farther afield, 17-plus local authorities are similarly vocal in their cimmotment to reinstatement of the Oxford-Bedford-Cambridge line.Which is nice for them all, I'm sure.

Re: Wanstead Park/Forest Gate... The map doesn't seem to show connections with any non-TFL stations. This strikes me as silly, if only because Forest Gate is far closer to Wanstead Park than, say, Kensal Green is to Kensal Rise.
