The E17 Art Trail is back! In its 7th year this annual local arts trail in Waltham Forest has been slowly growing into an enormous community festival to be enjoyed by people of all ages within the local community and beyond who are into the many different forms of art represented.
This year the event will be held from September 2nd to the 11th, with over 1000 exhibitors involved in around 270 art exhibitions over a period of 10 days across the E17 postcode. Exhibitors ranging from under 5s at early years centres, school and college pupils in the local area to graduates from prestigious art colleges, as well as local community organisations to artists in open studios to Waltham Forest's very own 98 year old Percy Wilding who has documented a lifetime’s travel around the world on his bicycle.
Each year the E17 Art trail has a strap line. This year the theme is 'On your marks'. The theme is meant to be taken very loosely and this year it is clearly anticipating the upcoming Olympics in East London as well as acknowledging the mark being made by the diverse artists in the community both in the use of their materials and in reputation. I for one am definitely looking forward to this amazing community event; I hope all of you are too.
